WE'RE SHUTTING DOWN THE STRIP
The SIU Alumni Association, City of Carbondale, and River Radio, LLC are closing The Strip in Carbondale, planting a stage on South Illinois Avenue in front of The Varsity Center, and hosting the SIU Homecoming Edition of the "Off The Rails" concert series on Friday, October 11.
All alumni, students, and community members are welcome to join us downtown, enjoy special offers from local bars and restaurants, and experience great night of music, featuring the final performance of the Jungle Dogs, with Modern Day Saints as the opening act!
JUNGLE DOGS: THE FINAL FAREWELL | 8:30 P.M.
Legendary Carbondale band Jungle Dogs will play their final farewell concert on stage, starting at 8:30 p.m. First formed in 1987, the band blends sounds of classic rock, reggae, funk, and ska, exemplified in their popular anthem, "Cold Beer." While the band retired from regular performances in 2003, they've continued to play periodic reunion shows. This performance is scheduled to be their last.
MODERN DAY SAINTS | 7 P.M.
Modern Day Saints are a Chicago-based pop-rock-punk band that writes and performs their original songs. They originated in Carbondale, IL in 1984 and were a staple of the prolific music scene surrounding SIU through the rest of the decade. They are currently writing and recording a new record and can be seen regularly in the Chicago area and anywhere else that calls!

Calling all Salukis! The SIU Alumni Association and the Carbondale in the '80s and '90s Group are once again hosting the biggest Homecoming Tailgate on Saluki Row, starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024!
Presented by our premiere sponsor, RollnUp Smoke Shop & Liquor, and supported by the River Radio Group, this will be THE PLACE to share your Saluki pride and enjoy some quality time with fellow alumni before the SIU football team takes on North Dakota State. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices are $40 per person ($25 for individuals 21 and under), with the option to purchase a table for your party at $80 (tables will be limited). Prices include a game ticket, food, beer, soft drinks, and giveaways courtesy of the Association. The Winston's Bagel cart will also be on-site with items available for purchase.
Alumni Band Reunion
The Alumni Band Group of the SIU Alumni Association will host its annual reunion on Saturday, October 11 on the SIU campus. Each year, more than 100 former Marching Salukis gather to remember their college days and join current band members on the field for a special half-time show during the SIU vs North Dakota football game on Saturday, October 12.

Young Alumni Social
Join the Young Alumni Group of the SIU Alumni Association from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. for a 2024 SIU Homecoming kickoff event. The Young Alumni Group represents Saluki graduates 35 and younger and offers networking and programs designed to help newer professionals in their careers and in staying involved with their alma mater.
This free event features appetizers; each registrant receives 4 drink tickets for the bar. We encourage you to sign up and learn what young alumni are doing for each other and their university!
2024 LITTLE GRASSY GET DOWN
The Little Grassy Get Down at SIU Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center is a family-friendly music festival featuring mostly original acoustic Americana music from around the Midwest. The event takes place from October 11-13 and weekend passes are on sale now!
